One of the things we miss most about Chicago are its summer street festivals - music, food, drink, friends, closed down streets, warm weather and great people watching. Well...it's a bit different in Charlotte, but we'll take what we can get. Our street shuts down once a year and hosts a block party w/ neighbors, food, drink, fire truck and police car, kids on bikes and warm weather (it did not rain for the 17th straight year on Labor Day). The evening ended w/ a shaving cream fight amongst the kids (apparently tradition). Cole spent the evening on his bike and then chasing and being chased by Barbasol cans. He had a blast...more so than at any of the Chicago festivals. We're supposed to host next year...any ideas on activities?

2225
In the 6 years Cole has been alive, we've moved 4 times: Barrington to Chicago, Chicago to New York, New York to Charlotte (apartment), Charlotte (apartment) to Charlotte (house). This does not include the move we made from Chicago to Barrington when I was in the late stages of pregnancy w/ Cole. He thinks that moving is an annual process that people just have to go through. Let's hope we can teach him otherwise w/ this one. We'll miss the pool of the Residence in Charlotte (apartment), but Cole is already making Charlotte (house) a home w/ his creative addition to the front yard. If you can't tell, that's his scoreboard, but it doubles nicely for a house number.

1st Day of 1st
We've been delinquent in posting as it's been crazy busy. I'll try to catch up over the next few days/weeks. Cole had his first day at his new school - he's in Mrs. Powell's first grade class at Eastover Elementary. Get this - he has to wear a uniform (and tuck in his shirt, another first). His fave part of the day is the bus ride, he can't wait to get to the bus stop w/ his Malvern/Hampton buddies and race to be first on the bus. We told him that he'll be riding the bus until 12th grade - he was sooo excited - when does bus riding stop being cool?
